Round 3

With round 2 postponed due to lack of a venue (and moved to September 10), round 3 broke a long drought between motorkhanas. It was held at our new venue, the Big W distribution centre at Monarto.

The day looked fine when I set off from home, then I got rained on through the hills and found the motorkhana ground wet but drying. It dried up enough in time for the first test, but as I was running 10th in line for Class A, it rained before I got a run. It rained on and off for the whole day and on the concrete surface it really makes a difference. It goes from grippy to slippery very quickly.

This was the first full run at the new venue and its layout restricts the number of tests we can get through. We did Gables, Bowler, Double Bone, Star, Cloverleaf and the Hopkirk. The Big W social club provided a top notch snags and soup lunch which was much appreciated.

All in all, a top day, even though we were missing some of the big names. Dave Sakko ended up winning outright with Gavin Gold second and Charlie Kotzur third.

Enjoy the (limited) pics!
